| Speedsouth Super Solo Shootout |
One of our region's long time and most faithful annual sponsors is Speedsouth, owned by Robert and Beth Russom. We have an annual event every year and it's called the "Speedsouth Super Summer Shootout" (SSSS for short). In this event, we have a super long course designed by what we consider some of the most talented devisional and national calibur guys around (Clay McCool, Mike Cavanaugh, and Charles Wright). The course spans about 4 acres and is typically a 1.5-2 minute course. There are event t-shirts and food for competitors. The driver count is usually north of 100 .
The format of the event is a regional style with 3 run groups at 3-5 runs per driver (dependant on entry count). At the end of the timed runs, the top 8 pax winners are then selected, and there is a head to head single elimination competition. The way the shootout portion is scored is that each competitor's fastest times of the timed runs becomes that competitor's standard for the shootout and each of the 8 drivers take a run and the top 4 drivers that improve their times by the highest margin or worsen their time by the least moves on to a second round. The second round, by the same standard, takes the driver count to the top 2, then round 3 determines the Speedsouth Super Summer Shootout champion! The winner of the shootout is presented with a perpetual trophy, his/her name is engraved on it and he/she recieves it at the next event and keeps it until the next year's shootout. It is not necessary to be an ALSCCA member to participate in the shootout and should you win, your name will go on the trophy, BUT you must be an ALSCCA member to take the trophy home.
The date of the event is May 4th, 2008 at Birmingham Race Course at 1000 John Rogers drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35210.

Since this event is a 1 day only event, it will have an entry cap of 115 and is open to drivers who are SCCA members whether they be regular or weekend members and have at least 3 autox events to their credit. The entry fee will be $35 to regular members and $45 to weekend members. SHOOTOUT PORTION IS ONLY OPEN TO FULLY SUBSCRIBED SCCA MEMBERS. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE THE ONLY REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT UNLESS THE CAP IS NOT MET. IF THE CAP IS NOT MET, THEN ONSITE REGISTRATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON THE FORUM ON SATURDAY NIGHT AND ALL INTERESTED PARTIES WILL BE WELCOME TO REGISTER ONSITE AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE UNTIL THE CAP IS MET. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE WILL BE OBSERVED.
