| Third Annual Waking the Earthworms RallyCross |
Alabama Region SCCA will bring RallyCross back to Alabama International Dragway for our 2008 season. We will begin our season on Sunday March 2nd with the Third Annual Waking the Earthworms RallyCross. Gates should open around 8am with the usual technical inspection and driver's meeting to follow. The course will go green around 10am. No SCCA membership, no problem. Entry fees will be $40 for nonmembers and $30 for members. We'll have 8 timed runs and should wrap things up around 2-3pm including the lunch break.
If you have never experienced a RallyCross first hand, I can assure you it will be the most fun you've ever had being dirty and still be legal in the Southeast and highly encourage everyone to come out and see what it's all about.

About RallyCross
SCCA RallyCross, or better known as RallyX, is a Medium speed motorsports event where competitors test their off-pavement driving abilities. Rallyx is similar to Autocross, or Solo in that the courses are "tight" and in the Time-Trial format (best time wins, not door-to-door). This is where the similarities stop, and fun begins.
On the ever shifting conditions of dirt, mud, or even possibly snow... You navigate a vehicle through a series of sweepers, chicanes, and offsets in an effort to achieve the absolute fastest time. However, there is a catch! Unlike Autox/Solo, ALL of your runs count. It's not "Best Time Wins", it's best cumulative time. Consistency is how you win in this type of event. No mistakes, no blow-off runs. Every second you're on course counts.
But wait, there's more! As vehicles make thier passes through the course, we run the risk of "Rutting". After equal number of runs, from all competitors, the course can/will be changed. We want you to take your car home in the condition you brought it... Just alot dirtier.
From the time you take that first launch, until you pass through the finish on your final run, it ALL determines where you shall end up in the standings. Are You Nervous Yet? Don't be, we're all new to this as well. Let's all learn how to conquer this together, and put Alabama on the map in the RallyX world.

Directions to Events
All events will be held at Alabama International Dragway located just off of I-59 in Steele, Alabama.
Alabama International Dragway
From Birmingham- Take I-59 North to the "Steele" Exit 174, right upon exiting and first 2 rights. Dragway is located at the end of the road.
From Huntsville/Chattanooga - Take I-59 South to the "Steele" Exit 174, left upon exiting and first 2 rights. Dragway is located at the end of the road.
